Born
in Glencoe, IL
on July 27, 1874, Louis Sharp was a landscape painter on the grand
scale.
Around 1910, Sharp studied privately with Chase Duveneck, Charles
Boutwood, and
at the Art Institute of Chicago. He
moved on to sketch for a brief time at Walpi, on the Hopi reservation
in Arizona. In 1914 he settled in Pasadena., CA. For the following 15 years he maintained
studios in both California
and in Taos , New Mexico. He
also spent months at a time at the Grand
Canyon
painting scenes for the Santa Fe Railroad. Sharp
died in Pasadena,CA.
in 1946.

California Art Club; California Watercolor
Society; Painters & Sculptures of

the silver and bronze medals.
